At a time when food labelling is under the spotlight and consumers demand to know what they’re eating, most people may have heard of MSG (Monosodium glutamate), but the majority are not aware of the potential dangers.
 Many people would be surprised to know that it’s not only processed foods and ready meals that contain hidden ‘nasties’ such as MSG. It is a cheap additive that can be added to any food to enhance the taste. Foods such as chewing gum, ice cream, processed meats, soft drinks, tinned tuna, salad dressings and even baby food can all contain MSG. There is growing evidence to suggest that MSG is responsible for conditions such as headaches, stomach disorders, fatigue, depression, itchiness and numbness, to name a few. The debate has been raging for over 30 years and research into the effects of MSG continues across the globe.
