Low cost flights are high cost holidays!

The launch of Travel jetPacks and www.studentjetpacks.com. Since the age of 11, Tarkan always wanted to travel the world, experience new cultures and meet new people. Before heading off to university, aged 18 and equipped with his passport, digital camera and mobile phone, Tarkan decided to scratch his itchy feet and take a gap-year and explore what the cities of Europe had to offer.

With the advent of budget airlines, such as easyJet and Ryanair, Tarkan set about booking flights in advance to benefit from the low prices, and worked in a night club to save a little spending money.

After booking a whistle-stop tour to Italy, Spain, France, Holland, Germany and Turkey all for under £210 (Italy was only 1 pence!), Tarkan set off on what was meant to be a shoe-string holiday.

After constant nagging from his parents and older brother before setting off, Tarkan ensured that he kept in constant contact with his family, ringing them every other day and always using public transport at night instead of walking alone.

After several weeks travelling, Tarkan arrived back in the UK, ready to take his travelling tales to university and share them with his new found friends during freshers week. However, immediately after starting university, Tarkan received his phone bill for the period of time while travelling, requiring payment equal to half his student loan payment for the term!

Faced with eating 9 pence noodles and cheese-on-toast in order to pay off his gap-year travel debt, Tarkan came up with the idea of a ‘Travel jetPack’. The aim was to equip young travellers visiting different countries with a pack containing local products and information, allowing them to experience a safe and low-cost trip. Each pack would contain local travelcards, information and SIM cards, ensuring that the traveller doesn’t get ripped off! Typically, visitors to a new city do not have the knowledge or the time to investigate and buy local travelcards or SIM cards, and as a
result find themselves been charged more than the cost of their flight for a quick phone call home!

Student Travel jetPacks aims to stop low cost flights turning out to be high cost holidays, by providing various travel and safety items to young travellers before they jet-off. Travel jetPacks aims to provide a cheap complimentary product to the travel guidebook, helping the traveller to save money, be safe, and have a good time, without the hassle!
