Budding event organisers at the University of Wolverhampton have raised more than £300 for charity as part of their course.
The 3rd year Event and Venue Management students had to organise an event with a budget of £100 as part of their final year studies – and give back any profit they made.
The successful School of Sports, Performing Arts and Leisure students organised an auction, raffle and disco at the student union bar at Walsall.
And they were delighted to raise just over £300, which they have recently donated to a charity called Promise Dreams in Wolverhampton.
One of the organisers, Debbie Dyke, said the event, held in April, had been very successful and they were pleased with how much the students had donated to the cause.
She added: “The group was extremely happy with the amount of money raised, and thrilled to be giving over £300 to Promise Dreams, particularly as it is a local charity.
“The whole experience for the group doing this course was challenging, but very satisfying and rewarding, and hopefully everyone will be able to take something from this experience into the events industry in the near future.”
The charity Promise Dreams raises money for children who are seriously or terminally ill and provides treatment, help and support for both them and their families.
The BA Hons in Event and Venue Management is based at the University’s Walsall campus and allows students to tailor their programme to suit their own interests – from managing large music venues, sports stadia, tourist attractions, pubs or multi-retail outlets to managing personal celebrations and cultural festivals.
