More than 30 French students have been experiencing university life in Wolverhampton at the University of Wolverhampton as part of a successful partnership programme.
The engineering students from ESTIA in Biarritz have spent a month attending lectures at the University of Wolverhampton.
The 32 MSc Advanced Technology Management students studied four engineering modules with the University, but also visited places in the local area including Ironbridge in Shropshire and Jaguar cars in Castle Bromwich, Birmingham.
Anais Bona, 21, from Biarritz, said: “Wolverhampton is a big city – there are shops, a cinema and bars near where we are staying. The University is also big for us – we don’t have big campuses in France.
“We have different lecturers and the course is taught in English so we have to listen closely and concentrate a lot. It is easy to understand the lecturers, and it is very good for my English.
“We have learnt about new technology that I did not know about before. I have enjoyed my time in Wolverhampton a lot.”
Dr Anthony Felton, tutor in Product Design from the School of Engineering and the Built Environment, said it was the fourth year of the partnership between the University of Wolverhampton and Estia.
He said: “Forty students from this European partnership have already graduated with Master of Science degrees from the first two intakes of this course. The congregation this year was successfully held in Biarritz. This MSc is highly valued in France and many graduates have gained prestigious positions in engineering including the aerospace and automotive industries. It has been a fantastic partnership that seems set to develop into other areas such as shared research and commercial opportunities.”
