The Apprentice star Ruth Badger has shared the secrets of her success at a lecture at the University of Wolverhampton.
Businesswoman Ruth, who rose to fame competing for a top job with Sir Alan Sugar on the popular BBC show, presented the 2007 Crystal Lecture at the University’s Telford Campus last night. (Tuesday, 23 October 2007)
The annual event is organised by the Chartered Management Institute and the University, and is now in its 14th year. Around 250 business people from across the region attended the lecture.
Ruth, who grew up in Wolverhampton, was presented with some glassware designed by a University of Wolverhampton graduate, Vivian Han, from China, who graduated in 2007 with a BA (Hons) Glass.
Professor Les Worrall, University of Wolverhampton Business School Associate Dean, said: “Ruth clearly demonstrated that to succeed in business you need personal drive, commitment and passion, and she also showed that to really succeed you need to be able to motivate and get the best out of the people who work for you.”
Gerwyn Jones, from the Chartered Management Institute, said: “Ruth gave the 250 attendees an intriguing insight into her success including her entrepreneurial beginnings in Wolverhampton and her experience on The Apprentice. She highlighted the three As of her success as Attitude, Attendance and Ability and her belief that its people that matter in business.”
