Ever find yourself tongue-tied? Lost for words? Those awkward situations could soon be a thing of a past with the launch of My Word Coach on Nintendo DSTM and Nintendo Wii TM – the game that allows you to improve your vocabulary and develop your ability to express yourself with confidence.
Easy for people of any age or experience to master, the new self-improvement title from Ubisoft hits UK shelves on 23 November 2007.
Step-by-step training with My Word Coach couldn’t be easier - firstly, calculate your Expression Potential with a short assessment test based on the estimated percentage of words you already know from the 16,500 words included in the game (all from the Official Cambridge Dictionary). This will then provide you with your Expression Potential: whether it turns out to be Smart Toddler, when your vocabulary is quite limited, or perhaps Literary Writer, when you excel in expressing yourself, you can find your level and let your personal training begin!
In order to start your training, elect your own coach from a choice of four animated experts, who will guide you through an array of exercises specially created to flex your cerebral muscles and develop your linguistic skills. Linguist Tom Cobb from Quebec University has worked with Ubisoft to design six core training exercises modelled to help you learn the correct spellings of words, and their definitions:
- Missing Letter: find the letter missing from the given word
- Split Decision: choose the correct definition for the given word
- Pasta Letter: spell out words using the given letters before they sink into the soup!
- Block Letters: use the Tetris-style blocks to spell out a listed word
- Word Shuffle: find that word that corresponds to the given definition
- Safe Cracker: only one word can open the safe – find it from the given definition faster than your friend!
So what results can you expect from all your hard work? With daily training of 20 minutes, you can expect to encounter 150 words a day, with the goal being to learn at least 4-5 new words a day. What’s more, with six multiplayer games on Nintendo Wii, two multiplayer games on Nintendo DS, three different difficult levels to master, and the option to save your own personal data, all the family can have a go!
Whether you’ve got a big interview coming up, are a new Mum looking to keep your brain in check or are simply in need of a conversation confidence boost, My Word Coach can help you to express yourself, meaning you need never be lost for words again!
