Research reveals we have faith in the Internet but we need to swat up on surfing.
Brits have more trust in technology than they do in human beings. In a new poll almost 7 in 10 people said they thought the Internet gave them more reliable information than another human being.
Over half of us use the Internet to find out what is going on in the world and nearly a third use it for housekeeping tasks such as banking, suggesting technology is playing an increasingly important role in our daily lives. Internet loyalty is also very high with nearly over half of us visiting a few trusted sites we feel we can rely on.
The research conducted by AOL uncovered that although we do have trust in the technology available to us, many still haven’t mastered simple offerings such as the world wide web.
A surprising 55% say that a quarter of the time their searches are unsuccessful. Half of us seem to get too many results and take ages to find what is wanted. A quarter of people feel a bit lost online and either never find what they are looking for or feel like they just don’t know what they’re doing. All this adds up to Brits spending an average 15 days lost in cyberspace every year.
