If you’re still looking for love, you could be in for a long wait, according to research released today. The average Brit will have to face 22 dates, three one-night stands and three relationships before finding their lifelong partner, according to a survey of 2,000 people to launch the new Dr. Cockney’s new Shag, Marry, Ditch game on BTPodShow.
But for some unlucky Brits, that figure could be even higher as almost one in ten went on more than 50 dates in total before meeting the love of their life. Nine per cent have even had more than 10 one-night stands in their quest to find The One.
Dr.Cockney, whose show International Sex Therapist takes a light-hearted look at people’s love lives, said: “These results could be bad news for anyone who is still looking for their soul mate. But don’t get too down-in-the-mouth as a lucky quarter of Brits only had to go on five dates before meeting their perfect partner.’’
The poll, of 2,000 Brits also revealed that almost half of us think talking regularly is the biggest secret to a long and content relationship. However, 29 per cent of people think regular sex is the key to staying happy with a partner, and 23 per cent of people think a shared sense of humour is the key to staying happy with a partner.
Poor personal hygiene was named as the biggest turn-off in a partner, with almost 60% of respondents saying that a smelly partner was the biggest relationship no-no, ranking above a low income, lack of a sense of humour and being overweight.
Dr Cockney commented: “Nobody wants a partner that pongs, so it makes sense that those dirty devils amongst us are seeing their relationships brought to a swift end!”
Dr Cockney - International Sex Therapist is just one of the shows available on BTPodShow: the online entertainment network that allows users to play, collect, share and create millions of hours of programming, videos and music.
Dr. Cockney’s new Shag, Marry, Ditch game is also available through BTPodShow and allows players to choose which celebrities they’d bed, wed or bin! If you get bored of shagging Russell Brand or taking Sienna Miller up the aisle, there’s also the option to customise the game with your own friends and workmates.
