British women often lament the wooing tactics of our native men. It has been said that they’re not as suave as the French and lack the charm of the Italians, but it seems all is not lost for love on home soil.
Chivalry in the British man is alive and well according to research conducted by the UK’s largest online dating service, DatingDirect.com. 90% of men regularly hold the door open for a lady to go through first and over a third say they regularly defend a woman’s honour.
Men are definitely on the right track but it’s not just the old-fashioned charm that grabs the ladies’ attention. Nearly a third of UK women chose 35-40 as the sexiest age for men; a further 23 per cent of ladies went higher and stated 40-45 as the best looking age range – good news for all those silver foxes out there!
Men might get better with age but they don’t seem to listen. Despite what women think, nearly a quarter of men believe they reach the peak of their attractiveness in their twenties. Boys, boys, boys, hasn’t George Clooney taught you anything?!
Susan Quilliam, relationship psychologist and DatingDirect.com spokesperson commented: “All good things improve with age… including our men! Men should clearly listen to what the ladies think more often – being seen at their most attractive around the 40 mark definitely makes the saying ‘life begins at 40’ ring true!
Nonetheless, whatever our age, it doesn’t seem to matter when it comes to being in love. All those from the UK, France, Italy and Spain overwhelmingly decided that when it comes to cupid’s arrow, age is nothing but a number…
