IRN-BRU has had a great response to its new ad since its launch last week and now the soft drink has decided to give fans the chance to get their creative efforts on TV.
Past campaigns have always created 'spin-offs' on the web with people re-creating classic IRN-BRU moments but now bosses are on the hunt to find alternative takes on their latest advert, a spoof of Rudyard Kipling's poem 'If'.
With the original version featuring a number of ‘snapshots’, from donating money to charity, to being at a gig with friends, the public is now being encouraged to capture even more proud Scottish moments and, along with accompanying rhyming couplets, upload them to the new IRN-BRU website.
Advertising greats, The Leith Agency, who have created IRN-BRU adverts for the past 15 years, will view the very best video clips and edit them together to create a new 60 second film version of ‘If’ that could be shown across Scotland in June, provided it is approved by the advertising body, BACC.
"We've never done anything like this before" said an IRN-BRU spokesperson, "but given the fantastic reaction that we always have to our campaigns, we thought the Scottish public would relish the opportunity to create their very own version of ‘If’.
"Our new ad gives some reasons why it’s great to be Scottish but we're sure that there are many more. We're interested in finding out what everyone else thinks and, if we get enough suggestions, we'll definitely screen them on television."
