Farnham College is a Sixth Form College. We are specialists in this area in providing full-time education for 16-19 year olds. Our usual intake is about 400 students. You will benefit from a College that is large enough to offer you curriculum breadth and yet personal enough to take care of every stage of your individual progress. Students, visitors and inspectors always comment on the excellent working relationships between students and staff. In addition, it doesn't feel crowded and you are able to use the first class resources we offer such as ready access to IT. Our ratio of computers to students is in the top 3 in the country. Why go on with education? It is widely recognised that if you are better qualified you will have a better chance of an interesting, challenging and well-paid career. Few universities will offer you a place to study without the relevant qualifications at GCSE and Advanced level. Without these qualifications, many careers are closed to you. More than that, continuing your education can provide an enormous sense of enjoyment and achievement. Being stretched and challenged, developing your skills and mixing with other students can give you a lively and rewarding two or three years and prepare you for a successful future. Sport We have excellent playing fields and tennis courts on site. The College competes regularly in County League and Cup competitions with representation in football, hockey, netball, cricket and tennis. The football team has been particularly successful over many years with a number of students achieving County honours. Drama and Public Speaking Come and join the College Theatre Company “Open Stage” as a performer or behind the scenes. Our public speaking teams have been Area Champions for three consecutive years. We run a small, friendly Adult Education service with the focus on quality teaching and learning and a high standard of customer care. We are pleased to offer you an interesting variety of courses for the year commencing in September 2002. You can choose courses leading to formal qualifications, for personal development and interest or perhaps to improve your job prospects. We are once again offering all our popular Information Technology courses and have expanded the choice this year to include some new courses and progression opportunities. Most of the courses listed here are described in more detail in individual information leaflets.
