Pub Description
The oldest public house in Aberystwyth, the Old Black Lion (Lew Du) has been here for almost three hundred years and was originally an old coaching inn.

We have a variety of special offers throughtout the week along with nightly promotions which we find suits many of the Students who frequent the Lew Du.




About Aberystwyth
Aberystwyth is a pleasant seaside town of some 12000 people and serves a local population of about 25000. It is located on the beautiful shores of Cardigan Bay on the west coast of Wales . It is the main market center for mid and west Wales and its shopping center houses most modern retail outlets. Its dual functions of an academic community and tourist resort ensure that the town enjoys a thriving commercial and social life throughout the year unlike many similar seaside towns.

The name Aberystwyth means 'Mouth of the Ystwyth' which may now seem odd as the Rhiedol River flows through the town and the river Ystwyth only empties into the harbour. But originally the water coursed its way into the old village that sprang up along its banks.
